Click and Go accessories are available for purchase at Land Rover retailers and include several different tablet holders designed to accommodate a variety of devices. Kids will appreciate the nine available USB ports peppered throughout the cabin, as well as the SUV’s available Click and Go tablet holders, which are incorporated into the front seatbacks. Only two of ’s car seats fit on the bench, but we were really close to being able to fit three car seats. The second row also does well when it comes to kids - two car seats fit with ease thanks to exposed lower Latch anchors and accessible top tether anchors. Some competitors, such as the Acura MDX and Volvo XC90, offer captain’s chairs for the second row. Headroom and legroom are great for a couple of adults, but a bench seat is the only configuration. Land Rover says it added more padding to the second-row seats for 2021, and they’re properly comfy. Other new highlights for the cabin are a 12.3-inch digital gauge display and a full-color head-up display ahead of the driver, both of which are helpful additions. I found it fairly accurate and less annoying than some of the regular controls. I had better luck using Land Rover’s voice recognition system, which can control some of the car’s media, navigation, phone and climate functions. Many functions can also be done via the touchscreen, but navigating to the climate menu takes too many steps. Pressing the buttons next to the dials takes more force than in any vehicle I’ve ever been in you have to really lean into the buttons to make something happen. For example, you push the dial to turn up the heated seats, pull the dial to adjust the fan speed and spin the dial to turn up the temperature. You can push, pull or spin the main dials depending on what you need to do.
The climate controls below the screen are also needlessly complicated. Lastly, the volume knob is in an awkward spot ahead of the shifter, and there’s no tuning knob.

My problem with it, though, is its response time: The system is slow to engage or switch tasks, and connecting to Android Auto took many seconds longer than I’ve experienced in other vehicles. It has large icons, crisp graphics and an easy menu structure. There are some new features in the cabin this year, and I’m mixed on a couple of them.įirst, a large, 11.4-inch multimedia system sits in a great place on the dash for easy visibility and usability. The cabin has very little bling, but rather than boring, it presents as understated. Highlights include my test car’s rich leather seating, with surfaces in a Light Oyster and Ebony color palette.

The system features two LTE modems, enabling it to stream as per normal even while downloading software updates for the car. Boasting a simplified menu structure, the new infotainment set-up is also 48% larger than before.

The cabin of the new Land Rover Discovery features a redesigned centre console, which houses 11,4-inch full HD touchscreen. Joining the range is a new R Dynamic trim grade, which features Gloss Black and Shadow Atlas exterior accents, while the interior receives two-tone leather and contrast stitching. Round back you’ll find a new gloss black panel positioned between the taillights, but sadly Land Rover has stuck with the asymmetrical number plate positioning, which is an eyesore for many. The external design changes include new front and rear bumpers as well as revised LED headlights – featuring a fresh DRL signature, and ‘sweeping’ indicators. Available off-road gadgets include configurable Terrain Response 2 technology, with a new Wade Mode that optimises the vehicle for deep water fording, and buyers can also opt for Land Rover’s ClearSight ground view technology, which uses forward-facing cameras and the central infotainment screen to show the terrain beneath the front of the vehicle. The engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and permanent four-wheel drive system, and adaptive air suspension is also standard. New engine options are now available in SA.
